During this season of “learning to rest,” I’ve had a more than a few “moments.” Kinda similar to those “garden moments” I talked about a few posts ago. Because I am a person that tends to always be super strong (it’s just my nature,) I don’t like that this season of rest is revealing just how weak I really am.
“Oh how I need Your grace
More than my words can say
Jesus I come, Jesus I come
In all my weaknesses
You are my confidence
Jesus I come, Jesus I come”
These days, my prayers seem to get shorter and shorter as my sobs get louder and louder. The only comfort comes from pressing into God’s character and remembering what he’s already done, spoken and trumped over. Basking in his strength as my weary soul cries out, “Abba Father. Help Me.”
I’ve learned that sometimes, that is what we need. We need these moments of brokenness to remind us that we are absolutely nothing and capable of nothing apart from Our Father. We need these moments of brokenness that draw us back to his loving arms, so that we get to know Him in the role of Father. We need these moments of brokenness so that we are able to experience the supernatural washing of peace and love. Experiences of calming, resting in the midst of walking through the violent storm. These moments teach us to rely on the Word, in all of its power and love.
You know, it’s sometimes good to remember in these moments that God never said we would have an easy or perfect life. But, what God did promise is that He is a good Father, that he will never leave nor forsake us, that he will give us rest, that we can cast every care on him, that he will steady our hearts and give us peace, that he will comfort us… even in the valley. [Matt. 6:32, Hebrews 13:5, Philippians 4:6-7, Luke 12:26, john 14:27, psalm 55:22, psalm 23:4, psalm 56:3]
We just have to come to him. Sobbing, weary, tired, broken, impatient, annoyed, confused, bitter and a mess. David is a great example of this, so don’t feel like you’re the ONLY one coming to God with your act falling apart.
“Oh what amazing love
We need Your cleansing flood
Jesus I come, Jesus I come
In every broken place
You are my righteousness
Jesus I come, Jesus I come…”
I pray this song bringing you comfort and a sweet wind of relief on tonight! I love you, and I’m praying for you.
