When I initially started doing worship Wednesday posts, I had no idea of the significance behind them. I just knew that worship music and true worship were the ways that I fought back against the enemy and got to the feet of our Father. I knew that worship music helped me to sing and remember the truth of God’s Word over my life. I knew that worship was how… well, it was how I was making it. I knew that the Holy Spirit gave me the idea and I was going to follow it. But, months later- I understand how vital worship is when you are going through a battle.
Battling infertility has definitely been one of the hardest fights of my life. My identity, my faith, my mental health, my hope, my marriage, my physical health…EVERYTHING has been attacked WHILE I’ve been in the valley. Fighting. Sis, I know it’s hard. It’s unexplainably hard. I know the heartache you endure, the hurt that you feel from pregnancy announcements, the feeling of not being “woman enough,” the feeling of being alone and isolated, feeling like you are the ONLY one without a bump or baby. I know feeling like your “husband deserves better,” or just wanting to give up on Christ. I know sis. I know it’s all overwhelming, and it’s hard. But, what I want you to know is that you don’t have to carry those feelings. You don’t have to carry those emotions. You don’t have to carry that hurt. You CAN pour it out at the feet of our Abba. In fact, He tells us in 1 Peter 5:7 to cast EVERY care upon Him. Now, how you do that? I don’t know. But for me…when I put on a song, and truly start to sing those lyrics over my life and situation. It’s like the atmosphere changes. I pour out everything & just glorify and worship our Father. It’s a beautiful moment for me and it encourages my spirit SO much. It’s freeing, yet so powerful at the same time.
So, I was sitting in church the other day and my Pastor began to talk about how important and powerful worship is. He went to a passage of scripture that I hadn’t read in a long, long time.
2 Chronicles 20:16-22 “Tomorrow go down against them. Behold, they will come up by the ascent of Ziz. You will find them at the end of the valley, east of the wilderness of Jeruel. You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem.’ Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, and the Lord will be with you.” Then Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the Lord, worshiping the Lord. And the Levites, of the Kohathites and the Korahites, stood up to praise the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice. And they rose early in the morning and went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. And when they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be established; believe his prophets, and you will succeed.” And when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who were to sing to the Lord and praise him in holy attire, as they went before the army, and say, “Give thanks to the Lord, for his steadfast love endures forever.” And when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set an ambush against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, so that they were routed.”
As he was speaking, almost instantly– it was as if a lightbulb clicked on and I thought of Worship Wednesday. Inside my head, I was thinking.. “That’s it!” THAT’S WHY WE WORSHIP! Every week, I’m giving you a song to fight through. I’m giving you some ammunition in battle. God is using this to encourage you to KEEP FIGHTING! See, the worshippers and the praisers.. THOSE are the ones that went to battle. Those were the ones that knew how to stand, and let the Lord fight for them! Those were the ones that knew how to give thanks, even in the face of a battle.
Sis, we have to be the worshiping warriors. WE cannot allow the enemy to silence our voice of praise, our war cry, our fight song! We cannot allow the enemy to steal our worship. Even in the face of a battle, I challenge you to take these songs and GO TO BATTLE- in your living room, your bathroom, you bedroom… where ever! It is NOT just a song sis. Don’t allow the enemy to trick you. With every ounce of true worship that you are singing unto God, you are declaring war in the spirit.
Ephesians 6:12- For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
