Mother’s Day Thoughts…

On Mother’s Day last year, I had ALL the encouragement in the  WORLD for ya’ll. This year, nah bruh. I just want my babies already. #NoFilter I’m just taking some time this month to be poured into. Part of this journey has been realizing that I can’t pour from an empty cup. As much as I want to be able to encourage women every single week, I can’t. That is why I am SO thankful to be in an amazing support group. It is private and intimate. A place where I can be 100% raw and transparent. (In the moments when I cannot write out a blog.) Yesterday, I had a horrible attitude to say the least. It’s been a rough week in general, and as Sunday rapidly approaches, my emotions have been all over the place. Sunday is Mother’s Day. Another Mother’s Day in waiting. And it sucks. Honestly, I was thinking about just playing sick from church because…. it’s just too much sometimes. I am SO happy for ALL of the mothers and moms-to-be. I don’t want to take away from the amazing women that DO have their little blessings. But, traditionally, we are straight up forgotten about on Mother’s Day. And it hurts. Normally, I would hold alllll of those emotions in and let them drive me into depression. But instead, I chose to utilize the support and community that Abba has blessed my life with. I seriously suggest that you get connected to a support group if you are on a TTC journey. It will make ALL the difference. One of the most dangerous things is to isolate yourself in life. Once isolated, you no longer have a group of people interceding for you. You lack that shoulder to cry on, or that listening ear. The enemy can EASILY run up (ya’ll know I’m lowkey bout that life) when you are alone. BUT, when two or three are gathered… okay, I’m not going to preach.

Thankfully, my sister in Christ- Tiffany, had already been in prayer about this weekend. Twenty minutes before I posted about how I was feeling, she posted a specific blog post JUST for Mother’s Day. Here’s a snippet.

During my journey of TTC (Trying to Conceive) my first child, Mother’s Day made me feel excluded and forgotten about as I struggled to get pregnant. I felt that my diagnosis of infertility left an arrow lingering over my head pointing down at me to remind me that my body has failed to do what is so easy and uncomplicated for other women. I felt like no one cared what I was experiencing as a woman struggling to achieve motherhood on one of the most celebrated holidays of the year.   I felt excluded, forgotten, and heartbroken.  Are you currently feeling this way as Mother’s Day is quickly approaching? If so, I want to remind you that you are NOT forgotten…by God.  Additionally, I want to apologize in advance on behalf of your church, family, and friends who’ve forgotten to acknowledge your very real, hard, and difficult journey to motherhood on one of the hardest days of the year for a woman diagnosed as infertile.  I want to apologize in advance for those that will not be reaching out to you to offer a kind word of encouragement, or for the church that will pray for and celebrate all of the mothers in their congregation, but fail to acknowledge those that are struggling to conceive, suffered a miscarriage, or loss a baby.  I’m SO sorry. I’m sorry that your heart is breaking because you have yet to see a positive pregnancy test.

Be sure to visit her site to read the full thing and also get connected with her ministry “My Predestined One.”

I love you all so much! I am so thankful to have you, this blog and to bring glory to our Father in the midst of this test.

Until next time…

If you’re wondering whether or not you can receive quality care from a doula even if it’s just virtually the answer is yes. Raven provided vital information on what I could expect, request, decline, and more throughout my pregnancy experience. The actual doula I chose to contract here in New York where I live is everything Raven told me I should have in a doula. When had my virtual consultation with Raven, she was polite, informative, reassuring and even answered my million questions. I think a virtual consultation is key for anyone who is unsure about what doulas do and who they are—and if doulas aren’t readily available in your area having the consultation helps with your search. If you are looking for someone to help you choose the right doula service, and you’re not able to meet in person, I would highly recommend having a consultation with Raven. Simply put, she is amazing. - Mrs. Adara Sherron First time mom to a baby girl.

Raven was amazing, she helped me with my cyst and bacteria infection. She knew EXACTLY what I needed to address each issue. She made sure I had everything I needed. Even when I arrived at the store, I called her to make sure I had the correct items... she answered right away and clarified that I had everything. She checked on me every few days to make sure my issues was getting taking care of. I highly recommend a session with Raven for any holistic womb care, health, holistic medicine, etc. thank you Raven so much! Love you

After years of receiving defeating news of miscarriage coupled with countless negative pregnancy test, as well as medical providers doubting my chances of pregnancy with a history of pcos, my blessing was planted in my womb.  When we found out I was pregnant (and taking a test 10 times due to disbelief) it was very important for us to have support. Raven communicated with me during times of infertility, provided resources and suggestions so I just knew I wanted her to be my doula after receiving news we were officially pregnant. When Raye initially mentioned she may not be able to commit due to other obligations and I was so devastated. Inevitably, I contracted with another doula and terminated that contract as soon as I discovered Raye was accepting doula clients. During my initial consultation call with Raven I immediately recognized the switch was the best thing to do for ME.   From prenatal visit to labor and delivery, my entire birth process seemed so personalized. I appreciated that Raven frequently helped me normalize  my concerns and feelings while discouraging all negative thoughts on pregnancy.  During labor, Raye not only supported me but also my husband. She was able to take over and allowed him to rest which he is still appreciative of. Her counter pressure techniques really helped me deal with contractions as they were getting more intense. Now that I have transitioned to post partum, Raye continues to provide support and check ins. It truly takes a village & I am grateful to have had Raven as my doula, and support.

What can I really say about this woman right here? She is my shero, my personal nurse lol. When I was battling with infertility she was right alongside  of me helping me to fight and to not give up hope. She encourages me , prayed for me and helped me to loose weight and get healthy for my miracle that we knew was coming.  Almost two years later here I am with my miracle baby . Although it’s been rough with so many scares in the beginning , she’s still alongside of me coaching me and helping me through my fears . I love this woman !. -Jasmine

Working with Raye is a dream!!! She was extremely responsive and helpful. On one of my strands the sizing was a little off. I was able to send it back and she got me right. I absolutely love her as a person and as an entrepreneur! She is definitely on my short list for doulas as well. She’s amazing and definitely is mastering all her crafts.
