Guest Blogger for Nourishing Your Temple!
I had the opportunity to share my story with someone that has been very influential in my journey, and has grown to be one of my closest friends/sisters in Christ. Jada is SUCH a spiritual fireball & her passion for health (physical and spiritual) is so inspiring! Here’s a little snippet from her “about me” section on the blog!
“Your first priority is to be your home. What does this look like on a day-to-day basis? This means setting the atmosphere of your home as one that leads your family towards, not away from, Christ. This means providing a peaceful atmosphere; this means feeding your family nutritious meals that will provide their bodies with the energy and health to do all that God has called them to do. Yes, we know that God is a healer, but what if we did our parts as women by preventing what we know how to prevent? We know that diabetes, high blood pressure, really any type of heart disease, stems from the way we eat. Do you know what this means? It means we as women are single-handedly called to do our best to prevent what is now the leading cause of death in our country. That’s huge! For me, that trumps the excuse “I just love soul food” any day of the week. Now that I have come to this conclusion, my site means even more to me. If I can get women to care more about the way they feed their bodies, then maybe those meals will make it to their dinner table. Maybe those meals will make it in front of their husbands, their friends, their children. Maybe those meals can reverse diseases that would have happened had they not changed their diet. Maybe, just maybe, the Lord can use this site to change lives in such a way that generations to come are taught a plant-based way of eating, and diseases that have been on the rise for decades can start to slowly diminish as we become more knowledgeable. This was all the revelation I needed to keep pushing with this blog, even when it feels like no one is reading. When I get discouraged, I remember this: If only one person is inspired by my blog to eat healthier and share the information with her children or with her family, I’ve done my work. Just from one mom reading my blog, her children, her children’s children, her children’s children’s children, etc. will be impacted. Just from one woman in her single season reading my blog, her best friend, her mom, her dad, her brother, her brother’s friend, her grandparents, her grandparent’s church friends, etc. can be impacted. For this reason, I do not take my calling lightly! I will teach women to glorify God by nourishing the temple He has only let them borrow for this life that is but a vapor. I will teach women to make the connection between physical discipline and spiritual discipline. I will inspire women to feed their bodies as unto the Lord, so that they can go out into this world strong and mighty. We are not called to be disease-ridden, half-asleep disciples; we are called to be warriors in His army! Women- let’s stand up and do our parts in raising up our generation and the generations to come to be soldiers physically ready for battle! I love every single one of you, and this blog is an expression of my love for you and for your families!”
