Well, here it is. Friday. I didn’t get a chance to post this on Wednesday and I was SO bummed. This week has been absolutely CRAZY. But, I couldn’t let this week end without sharing the song that has carried me through the week. Literally. This song has literally carried me through things that would normally give me severe anxiety, and cause me to begin doubting God. My faith is strengthened every time I sing the lyrics, reminding myself of the faithfulness of our Abba. Just, take a minute and listen here.
I first heard part of this song a couple weeks ago. It wasn’t until Sunday, that the lyrics really began to speak to my heart. A praise began to rise up inside of me when I started to apply these lyrics to my current situation. I love to make lyrics personal. Worship for me is personal. It’s how I fight against sadness, depression, anxiety, and how I keep my peace and joy. I do that by applying the lyrics to my life. Make these lyrics personal.
“Your promise still stands, great is your faithfulness!” What has God promised you? What are you standing on? For me, my promise is “He makes the barren woman abide in the house As a joyful mother of children. “ [Psalm 113:9] But make this personal for you. Maybe your promise is health, maybe it’s provision, maybe it’s strength, maybe it’s the fact that He has GOOD plans for you. Make this line personal. Know that Abba DOES NOT LIE. The promise still stands, even though it doesn’t look like it right now, he IS faithful. Sing it as TRUTH over your life.
I’m still in your hands, this is my confidence. You know that moment when you think you aren’t going to make it? The tenth BFN (big fat negative,) the “bad” doctor’s appointment, the diagnosis that you didn’t want, the failed IUI/IVF, the job loss, the car accident, the loss of a parent, or the loss of a child. Those moments? Those moments that the enemy likes to use to tell us that God has forsaken us? In those moments, as hard as they are, you are STILL in the hands of our great God. Salvation NEVER gave us a ticket to a pain free, problem free life. In this life, we all will go through moments that knock the wind out of us. However, we can be confident in THIS: “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” [Deuteronomy 31:6]
You’ve never failed me! Ya’ll I KNOW that it seems like we’ve been forgotten, forsaken and failed. Especially as you get further and further into the “wait,” regardless of what you’re waiting on. But, I want you to seriously think back.. think back to ALL of the times that Abba HAS come through for you. Remember that time he saved you from hurt, harm and danger as you were living reckless? Remember the car accident that he allowed you to walk away from? Remember the abusive relationship he helped you escape? Remember the illness he healed you of? Remember all those times? Apply that to this line and watch JOY stir up inside of you. You see, sometimes we need to reflect back on ALL that God has done for us; because he is the SAME God right now as He was back then. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” [Romans 8:28]
I’ve seen you move, you moved the mountains. This goes right in line with the last line. When you are in the middle of a storm, It’s so easy to feel hopeless. Even when you KNOW that God is able. Think about Peter (when Jesus was walking on the water.) [Matthew 14:29-31} So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
So, Peter walked to Jesus, but the moment he took his eyes OFF of Jesus- he got distracted by the size of the storm. Even though he clearly knew that Jesus was able to save him, because he was ALREADY WALKING on water. We do the same thing. We know that God is able, yet we allow the mountains to shake our faith. Even though we know he can do it- because He’s done it before! We just have to fix our eyes on Him and know that…
And I believe I’ll see you do it again.
You made a way, when there was no way. Think about all of the “impossible” situations that God has brought you through. The times you couldn’t pay your rent, but it was paid. The times you needed food, and he provided. When your baby came home from the NICU. When you got the job, even though you were not qualified. When the doctor couldn’t find the cancer anymore. Think back… MAKE THIS PERSONAL. Think about the times that he has done it FOR YOU. Not what you’ve heard, but what you have experienced. Apply that situation to this line, know that he’s done it before and know that….
And I believe I’ll see you do it again!
I’m normally not this wordy on Worship Wednesday, but I guess posting on Friday gave me two extra days of things to say. This song has been on REPEAT in my home, so I’m surprised that I didn’t have a book. Lol! I love ya’ll and I pray this blesses you.
